I have a wheel horse d 200 and it wont stay started?

A while back i ran it till it was out of gas and this is where the problem all started. I can get it started with starter fluid but it wont stay running. also i think it is the fuel pump but i replaced last year. Well my dad replaced the fuel pump and i have no clue where it is so if that is the problem please tell me where it is and what the problem is thank you all
I tried takind off the bowl of the carb and all it does is keep spinning is it reverse threads?

Try the carburetor first. It may just be clogged with dirt.

Take the gas bowel off and make sure it has no water in it (this is the time of the year when this can happen, especially being low on fuel) clean it out and put back together. NOTE do no over tighten the boel just snug it up then if u have to tighten a little bit more go ahead. (if the gasket came off put it back on the carb FIRST, so long as the gasket is in good shape, it looks like a rubber band only square). While u have the gas line off make sure the filter isn’t plugged up if it is REPLACE don’t try to clean it out!. Now while choking the motor try to start without starting fuel. On the back side of the carb there is a black socket similar to what goes over your spark plug. Make sure it is attached to the carb, they sometimes come off.
If that don’t work check and replace plug however I don’t think thats the problem. Make sure your filter is clean or replace or clean it. If u still have prob u have 2 adj screws a small one and a larger one. 1. turn the small one in all the way in gently don’t over tighten then back off 1 1/2 turn. 2. On the larger screw do the same only back it out 2 to 2 1/2 turns and try to start again if that don’t work get back to me via e-mail gustoguy@sbcglobal.net and we will see what we can do from there. Sounds like the float or needle valve is hung up in the carb. Take off the carb. bowl and check the float and needle valve operation
